Oh Baby!

In case you missed the big post yesterday...I'm PREGNANT!!

I found out the day before our first wedding anniversary, so I wrapped up the positive test as a gift for Patrick.  He was so happy!
My official due date is July 19th so I am about 15.5 weeks along.  Here's how the pregnancy has progressed...
Sick, sick, sick - the worst thing the world is taking a shower!

So tired!  I think I could nap every afternoon!

We got to see the first glimpse of our baby this week - so exciting!

We told our parents this week.  I don't know who was the most excited?  Lots of joy all around.
I have also been craving carrots - funny, I know.

My jeans are starting to get tight now.
We told our siblings on Christmas - more excitement by all!!

We celebrated NYE at home - we weren't ready to spill the beans to our friends yet and we knew it would be too obvious if we went out and I didn't drink.

We had our 2nd doctors appointment and got to hear the heartbeat for the first time - amazing.
The secret is out - we started telling family and friends.

I was sick, sick, sick this week with a sore throat and a head cold - yuck!

Hello 2nd trimester!  The morning sickness is finally gone!  Hooray!
Okay, so I might not look too much different, but the little bump is really starting to push out.  We go for our next appointment on February 5th and I can't wait!

We didn't save our top layer of cake, so I bought ice cream cupcakes.  Yum!

I bought these forks to use at our wedding, but lost them before the big day.
I found them months later so thought now would be a good time to put them to use.

They are engraved with our wedding date.

We also went out to eat with Patrick's parents - their anniversary is only 2 days after ours!

Get Organized in January

I'm ready to start the New Year off right.

I know I missed posting a December list, but I did pick out some tasks for the month.

Here's what I've been working on:

May 17 - Open that mail right over the recycle bin. Handling mail sometimes leads to stacks here and stacks there. So when you bring it into the house, sort it immediately. Shred anything that has personal information on it and recycle the rest. Keep any bills or important mail in a separate file. (Still working on this one - we have the desk set up, but still to do some more organizing in the office area.)

June 17 - Create a kitchen annex. Store seldom used appliances and serving pieces together in a closet. If you don't use it regularly, it shouldn't be taking up valuable real estate in the kitchen.
Completed!  I've cleared out all of the cabinets and moved large items to the basement shelving.

July 8 - Straighten up your garage as much as possible. Then sweep it. (This might have to wait until it is warmer out.  We've got 2 cars and a lawn mower and supplies all squeezed in.)

July 17 - Thoroughly clean the kitchen sink. Clean in and around the drains. Use a brush to scrub around the faucet and sprayer. (This should be easy - I just need to get it done!)

Aug 11 - Wash down outside patio, driveway or decks after sweeping. (Will do in conjunction with the garage cleaning in the spring.)

Sept 4 - Wipe your kitchen cabinets clean. Start from the top of each cabinet and work down.

Sept 20 - Organize your baking supplies. Keep all your food products used for baking together. Give them a spot in your kitchen that is close to where you prepare such foods. Clean and dry your canisters before replacing with flour, sugar, etc.  (Done!  I have a basket of baking supplies in the pantry ready to go.)

Sept 25 - Make a list of all food/household items you normally use on a regular basis. Post this list on the inside of a kitchen cupboard. When you are making your shopping list, you can reference this list of necessities.

Oct 10 - Do a quick scan of your refrigerator. Remove any containers of unused food and recycle/wash the container. Open your vegetable and fruit refrigerator drawers and remove any old, unusable food

Oct 25 - Start preparing a 20-day meal rotation plan. Gather ideas from each family member and come up with 20 different dinner time meals that can be used on a rotating basis. Then make a grocery list based on the first 5 meals.

Nov 16 - How many hot beverage mugs do you need? Go through your supply looking for chips and cracks. Also, get rid of mugs that are not used or liked. Before replacing the mugs you love and use to the cupboard, wipe the storage shelf clean of dust and dirt.

Nov 18 - Sort and clean out your purse and wallet. First empty all of the contents, and then evaluate every item and sort. Try to make at least two sorting piles. One sorting pile will include items you need to put somewhere else or throw away. Another pile will include items you will return to your purse or wallet.

Nov 25 - Designate a give-away box to put items you no longer need or want. When the box is full take everything to Goodwill. Keep the box in the garage or a closet.  (Done!  We've got 3 big bags of clothes to donate along with a box of kitchen and miscellaneous items.  The Goodwill box is in the basement.)

Nov 28 - Go through your gadget drawer in the kitchen. Take out everything. Then replace and organize what you truly use and need. The rest of the items can be donated to Goodwill.  (Done!  I collected a box of items to donate from my kitchen.)

Nov 29 - Is it time to turn the mattress? To be sure you mattress has even aging, it is recommended that a mattress is turned every month.

Dec 2 - Greeting cards or e-cards can be sent out today to close family and friends wishing them wonderful warm thoughts and happy memories during this
festive, special time of year.  (Done!  We sent out almost 80 Christmas cards!)

Dec 7 - Sweep outside your front door.  Clean the outside entryway of dirt, leaves and debris.  Sweep off steps, the balcony and/or patio area that leads to your front door.

Dec 17 - Gather together items needed for overnight house guests.  Make a basket/box of small toiletries, collect or purchase guest towels, etc. and extra bedding.

And here is what I have on my list for January:

Jan 3 - Take time today to be sure that your yearly calendar has events such as birthdays and anniversaries, appointments, visits, etc. entered for each month.

Jan 7 - Take down all holiday decorations.  Store and pack neatly in containers that are well labeled.

Jan 19 - Make a bird feeding area.  Spread bird seed in an above-ground planting pot in your back yard.

Jan 21 - Today you can organize and sort through your coat closet.  Take out any clothing etc. that has not been worn or used in over one year.  Be sure that your closets are used for clothing and outer wear instead of a spot to place never or rarely used stuff.

I've got plenty to keep me busy this next month and year.  As always, the full list can be found at the Get Organized Now website.
