Claire's ABCs - A & G

6 done....20 to go...
I'm starting to run out of ideas and that's not good.  I know what I'm doing for C, D, E & F but have no ideas for I or J.  Throw some suggestions my way.

It's time....

I've read good things about the 30 day shred - my favorite part - the workouts are only 20 minutes.  That seems doable.  My plan is to get up and exercise before work...we'll see how that works.  Thank you to everyone who has been so complimentary about my post-baby bod but the jeans don't lie...and don't zip...so I know I've got a few pounds to lose still.  I'll let you know how it goes - I need someone to keep me accountable.

In other news, Claire woke us up 4 times last night.  She has been rolling over for several weeks now but lately she has been a rolling machine.  Last night she rolled from back to belly four different times and then decided that she didn't want to be on her belly anymore.  I know she can roll from belly to back but I think she gets stuck up against the crib or gets her arm stuck underneath her.  Then she cries until her daddy or I comes running to the rescue.  Her only saving grace is that you can just roll her back to her back and she falls back asleep.  Yes, I managed to use the work back three times in that sentence...maybe I need to consult a thesaurus...or not.

Patrick stayed home with Little Miss the past two days. He's got this SAHD thing down.  I've gotten three super cute videos at work.  What can I say, I'm a lucky gal.

Claire Wears

I love that Claire is getting bigger and I can start dressing her up.  Little girl clothes are so much fun and I've got a mini fashionista on my hands...

Monday she was pretty in pink...

Look at that matching hat!  Love!

Tuesday she had a laid back style...

And today she sported gray stripes and a white bow...

In order to keep things simple (and make our mornings easier) I put together her clothes for the week on Sunday.  Each day's outfit is placed in a gallon zippy bag in a tote on the changing table.  All pieces of the outfit are included - hats, socks, bows, etc so all I have to do in the morning is grab a bag and go.  It also helps daddy to have everything pre-matched.

Basket of bags

Individual bag with leggings, tunic & socks

Speaking of baby fashion, I found some great steals at the thrift store today....all deals only $1.

Baby Gap brand jeans

Arizona Jeans Company jean jacket
Cherokee brand purple jeans

Old Navy Christmas sweater

The Christmas sweater is for this winter and the other finds are going to be put away for next fall.  I think the little jean jacket is my fave.  Not too shabby for a lunch break treasure hunt.

And she can't stop, and she won't stop

CRYING!

I don't know what the matter is.  I suspect she might be teething.  She has been super drooly lately and wants to chew on her pacifier and hands all. the. time.  I know 4 months is early to be teething but I've got nothing else...so it must be teeth.

On a happier note - we had such a good weekend:

Daddy snuck in the bedroom and caught mom and Claire taking a little snooze after Claire got done nursing Sunday afternoon.

Claire and Daddy watched some football on the couch....

She is just so much fun (when she's not screaming bloody murder!)  Any tips for teething babies?  Write me a comment...I'd love to hear them.

Our Second Anniversary

Last week, Patrick & I celebrated our second wedding anniversary.  It was a thrilling night of playing with Claire, eating McAlisters and sharing ice cream cupcakes from Dairy Queen.  The truth is...I loved it!  And wouldn't have had it any other way.  I adore spending my nights at home with my little family - it is the best feeling in the world.

We had a pretty exciting second year.  Last year on our anniversary, we found out I was pregnant.  We vacationed in California, my brother got engaged at Thanksgiving, I took a belly bump picture every week, Gavin turned one, my brother Brandon graduated from Maryville, Patrick was an usher in his friend Ryan's wedding, and a groomsman in his cousin Corey's wedding.  We took a mini vacation to Tennessee for Corey's wedding in June.   I GAVE BIRTH TO A BABY GIRL! Claire went to her first Seminary Picnic, Patrick's friend Eliot got married, Patrick was the best man in his brother Eric's wedding, I was a bridesmaid in my brother Grant's wedding, we took Claire to the pumpkin patch, and dressed her up as Cinderella for Halloween.

Whew!  What a year!

At the risk of sounding too mushy, I just wanted to thank my husband for being the best husband EVER.  It's amazing how much bringing a new life into this world together makes you fall even more in love with your spouse.  I didn't think I could love him any more and then Claire came along and he loves her and adores her and it makes my heart melt.

I can't wait to see what the next year holds for us!

Claire - Four Months

Baby girl is four months old and changing right before our very eyes.

Four month stats:
11 pounds 6 ounces (10%)
24 inches (50%)

Here is what I want to remember from your fourth month:
  • Mommy went back to work.  You spend three days a week with aunt Marcy and Gavin, one day with Grandma Wilmes and the puppies and one day with our neighbor Jennifer and the girls.
  • Cousin Gavin is still afraid of you.  Everytime you make a noise, he gets frightened.  You make him cry a lot.
  • Even though you dropped to the 10th percentile for weight, you are quite the little piglet.  You are still eating every 3 hours or sooner.  And you eat FAST!  You are a pretty good burper.
  • You are also a pretty good tooter.  And your toots are starting to get stinky!
  • You started rolling from your back to your belly!  You finally figured out the trick to keep your arm own.  However, your arm usually gets trapped underneath you when you roll over and then you get frustrated because you can't free it.  Mom or dad always comes to the rescue.
  • You are still such a good sleeper.  We have been so fortunate at night.  Thank you baby girl!
  • You liked watching Cardinals baseball with your dad.  During one intense playoff game, your dad jumped up and yelled at the TV and it scared you big time!  You started bawling and your dad felt so bad.  He just gets really emotional during game time.
  • You are starting to grab at your toys now.  You can catch Pete the Parrot and Magnus the Monkey.
  • You still practice your cheerleader moves at all times (as evidenced in the blurry hand picture above).  You are always on the move swinging your arms and kicking your feet.  No wonder you aren't putting on the weight - you don't ever sit still!
  • You love music and we sing songs about EVERYTHING - taking a bath, changing your diaper, getting dressed.  Whenever mom or dad starts singing you usually stop fussing and just listen.
  • You are such a squealer.  You squeal when you are happy and when you want our attention.  You are also turning into a big talker.  One weekend we went out to Grandma's and you talked in the back seat the whole ride there.  Dad said you just like to listen to the sound of your own voice.
  • You are DROOLY girl!  Your hands are always in your mouth now and the drool is everflowing.  I feel so bad because your little hands get so cold because they are always wet but I can't keep those little fingers out of your mouth.
  • You still like your pacifier when you are tired.  It is a must for naps and bedtime.
  • You really like your big girl jumparoo.  It has lights.  And music!  And you can bounce!  So much excitement for such a little girl.  We have to put a shoe box underneath of it so your feet can reach something to push off of.
  • When given the choice, you always look at daddy.  Mommy can be holding you and cooing at you but the minute daddy walks in the room, he has your undivided attention.  It is so great that you are just enamored with your daddy but sometimes it hurts mommy's feelings when you won't give her your attention.
  • We removed the foam insert in your bathtub.  Now you can sit down in the water more and splash, splash, splash!  You really love bathtime.
  • I had to pack up some of your 0-3 months clothes because you are such a tall girl.  Still a skinny mini but too long for some sleepers.
Reminisce on when she was little:
